We Lowered Backup Pricing

July 31, 2026 Matt

Backup pricing on Cloud VPS just went down. If you have been keeping fewer restore points than you would like because of cost, this update is for you.

The math on retention has always been a quiet compromise. You know a week of restore points is safer than two days, but backup storage bills by the copy, so most people trim retention until the bill looks reasonable. Lower per-backup pricing moves that line: the same budget now buys more restore points, or the same restore points cost less.

Automatic backup schedule settings for a VM, with daily, weekly, and monthly options and a monthly price estimate

Where to see it

Open any VM in the client area and go to its Backups tab. The automatic backup schedule shows the estimated monthly cost right next to the settings, so you can see what a change costs before you save it. Pick daily, weekly, or monthly backups, set how many copies to keep, and choose the day and hour they run so they land inside your maintenance window instead of your morning rush.

Who benefits

Anyone with retention requirements they were rounding down. That covers businesses with compliance policies that specify a minimum number of restore points, teams that want a backup from before last week’s deploy, and anyone who has ever needed a file as it existed ten days ago and found their oldest backup was from Tuesday.

Backups on Cloud VPS are covered in more detail on our backups page.
